Quality and Quantity of Information
Information on the tobacco industry is already extremely limited. A partnership between a global market research organization and big tobacco limits the public's information that much more.
Illicit Trade
Euromonitor's partnership with PMI IMPACT is to investigate illicit trade in around 80 countries. As seen in the earlier page, their data prior to this partnership was already inaccurate. Partnering with a tobacco company will result in even worse data, which allows the perpetuation of the illicit trade in these low income countries.
Customers of Euromonitor International
The pricing on Euromonitor's packages of market research range from anywhere between $200-$2100. If someone was to pay to find out more about tobacco only to then realize their data could be biased in favor of the industry, it is a complete waste of money, and a scam of the customer.
More Questions to Ask
Is this the first time that Euromonitor (or any market research organization) has taken money from a tobacco company? What is the history of payments and results from these kinds of partnerships? Has this been going on for decades?
